What will you be doing on Friday 29th April?

If you're organising (or know about) something which coincides with the royal event, than please let us know and if we get enough ideas we'll make a special section in What's On.

Local election - and a referendum!

You should have recieved some information from the Council about the Wealden District Council election, and the AV referendum, that take place on 5th May. For the Heathfield East ward, which includes Warbleton and Rushlake Green, Punnetts Town, Old Heathfield and parts of Swife Lane, Broad Oak, Burwash Road, Dallington and Bodle Street, there are two candidates standing for District Councillor:
Robert Bowdler
(independent) of Punnetts Town and
Nigel McKeeman
(conservative) of Rushlake Green.

Nigel McKeeman is responsible for the content and the editing of this website, and clearly has a personal interest in the elections. For this reason, other than the basic information above, and some further information about polling offices, we shall not be commenting on this election or using these pages to promote any candidate.

Pictures at an exhibition

Rushlake Green artist Chris Liddiard is taking part in the Spring exhibition at Gallery North in Hailsham. Chris is showing his landscapes and children's book illustrations. The exhibition runs until 21 May. www.artgallerynorth.co.uk

Area of Outstanding Natural Ugliness?

Many local residents of Rushlake Green are concerned about the ugly 'pumping station' that has been installed at the southern end of the village. We understand that the contractors are applying for retrospective planning permission for some elements of the installation, which varied form the specification originally submitted. But the ongoing issue is the general unsightliness of the construction, the woefully inadequate attempts at masking the 'box' with trees and the obtrusiveness of the concrete platforms.

OKLAHOMA!

The much anticipated prouction of OKLAHOMA! by the Village Players takes place in the Dunn Village Hall from Weds 18th to Saturday 21st May. Tickets for members go on sale on Sat 30th April whilst non-members can buy tickets from 3rd May. There will be the usual scrum for tickets so remember to book early. To read more CLICK HERE

Visit Wisley

On 11th June, the Warbleton and District Horticultural and Poultry Society is organising a coach trip from Rushlake Green to see the RHS gardens at Wisley. For details contact Margaret McCarthy on 01435 830560.

Outstanding art

Curator Chris Liddiard was thrilled by the response to the ART on the Green exhibition. Nearly 100 works of art and craft lined the Dunn Village Hall as the show took place from Saturday 19th March to Sunday 20th. The show was extremely well attended on both days and 20% of all proceeds were donated to the Village Hall Fund.
